The photos you see here are pretty random. If you are looking for my professional work please click here. They could be of
jobs that went bad, shots that didn't get used, photos of family and friends,
party pictures or whatever. It's basically my life and I want to share it with everyone because I think
I'm fortunate to see and experience the things I do. I hope you will get as
much
enjoyment from looking at them as I did taking them! -eric

I harvested a head of broccoli today from the patio garden. We've been eating a couple types of lettuce, some spinach, strawberries and herbs regularly.
This is the first head of broccoli. Cucumbers are almost ready, beans and tomatoes soon after.

"Food grows where water flows" is what it says on the billboards along the California aqueduct as you drive Interstate 5 through central CA, or something close to that.
Water has been flowing out of my garden hose for 8 days and food is growing! First carrot popped out today.

It's been a while since I posted anything. Work, the fear of not having enough money, life, friends, time, these
things could all be blamed for my lack up updates but really I've just been to lazy. So... here are a few from the last couple months.
Sometimes I look up (or down, it's 3 floors) in my house and trip out on the place. It's huge but cost the same or
less than a two bedroom in a "decent" neighborhood. We live in the ghetto in Long Beach and I enjoy it.
No I don't enjoy having to drive to buy (vegan) food or the lack of basic things at the liquor store, I enjoy the culture.
Growing up in the woods of Washington state I rarely saw inner city life. This is about as much inner city
life as you could want. There is a lot of violence, gangs still control the park and are very visible everywhere
around me but I don't mind. As long as we keep smiling nobody has any problems with us, the outsiders to this
neighborhood, being here. Funny thing about gangs is they are always in areas populated by families so at the
same time they are putting out negative energy there is a fine balance of positive energy flowing from the love of family.

Amanda and Vincent moments later

The reason we moved into this space was to build a work enviornment where we could both be creative and share what we have.
I think this was the first official project day. Mike and Michele came over to screen print some shirts and pillow cases for holiday gifts.
Mike and Michele helping each other, or playing twister.

Mike on his own!

Someone gave the Datsun a smack, Luckily the guy left a note.

So I had to fix it.

After living in southern California since '97 I finally went to the Getty. There
were at least 6 days I planned to go during that span of time.
It took two people to drag me up there. If you haven't been you should go, it's
$8 for parking and you get a day of insane visual stimulation.
This was at the off ramp on our way to grab food before the Getty.

Some old photos. Just found these while looking for something else on a backup
drive.

Rest in peace

Dave at Goldenwest College, Huntington Beach, CA. There
was a post on the end of this sign that ripped through 1/16" of
wood on his board each time he tried this. It was
destroyed by the time he landed it.

Dave and I used to live down the street from each other. This was
halfway between our places. We talked about this trick for a bit - it was
huge, I didnt even try. Too bad I cut off his hand. We still live down
the street from each other today, just in a new city.

I am finally going through all the photos I shot this summer.

Nobody ever runs these shots but I love to take them. M3 in the desert.
Amanda for the cover of Car Audio magazine

Here is another photo that will most likely never be seen by anyone
except here. This is one of two Lamborghini Miura Spyders ever
made. This car has some history and is very sought after. I was
fortunate enough to get the chance to shoot it, but I couldnt get the light
the way I wanted it - notice the glare of the overhead strobes in the
steering wheel. The guy I was shooting with didn't care about this
shot and wouldnt help much so I eventually moved on.

Hello, I see you're here to come into my home and work on stuff.
Wait, is that your van? Oh okay, its cool, you can't park a van
without driving up on the curb but... uh... yeah... please come
in and work on my home.

Johnny's El Camino, new paint and interior.

Kurtis and I finished his van's interior, or as much as we had materials for.
Too bad I forgot to take a pic of the interior.

Pool party over the weekend. Don't even bother asking where this one is.

I've been spending so much time with my daughters and at my
girlfriend's place that i haven't updated in a while. last weekend i
stopped by Jeff's to say what's up after a few months of him traveling and his
brother Brian lives there now! Brian is cool
as fuck and a photo/art fag as well as I am. Needless to say I am super excited
that he lives in SoCal now. I can't wait to start
working on some projects with him as well as go skateboarding. The first pic
is of a polaroid portrait camera that
Brian has. No batteries - just flash cubes and Polaroid film. Brian shoots more
polaroids than anyone I know.
O h yeah, Brian, I want a print of the old man with a knife! Check out his site!

This is Chris Thompson tattooing me a couple years ago. I really
hate tattoos because most are shitty and just picked off the wall.
I know, I know, I'm a fucking hypocrite for having them. I just thought of Chris
while working but its 2:34 a.m.,
so I'm not calling him. This post will have to do. The photo on the right shows
the finished product. You can see it on my
left arm in the shot of both of us and it hurt like fucking hell to take the
pic! Chris is an amazing painter and
great friend. He lives in Seattle, though, so we don't see each other that often
and I call him a lot less
than i should. If you ever have money to spend, buy a painting from him - they
are incredible.
i hate myspace with a passion buy since he doesn't have a website you'll have
to check out his
myspace page... sorry! http://www.myspace.com/zombifichris

its yours. I dont want it!

Introducing Pasha and Danica, my daughters!!! They are with me for the entire
summer and nothng could be better! I have never taken them to the studio.
Yesterday I had to shoot a cover for Car Audio and Electronics magazine and
they came along.
The photos above are the only 3 I took of them. We'll be back soon!

Do you ever have thoughts that trigger other completely random thoughts? Maybe
we all do.
Ron called me out on mine during an SF trip a year or two ago. Mine may be a
little
hyperactive. Anyway, I was driving home this morning and a trail of thoughts
reminded me
of this photo. it's not the best photo but worked perfectly for an article i
was shooting.
The art director apparently didn't think so because he ran it small and as a
bad inset photo for
the opener. I was bummed. So bummed that I didn't even really look at the rest
of the article
when i saw the opener he used. Every once in a while you come across an incredible
art
director who really has a vision. Unfortunately it's usually few and far between.

the volvo runs again, just needed a new clutch master cylinder. as i have
with most of the work i did this at johnny's. johnny's dad was the person who
called it out as the master cylinder, thanks!!! i love fixing my own car
while suckers pay thousands to get theirs fixed! mystery driver in this one...

Maile, Erin & Cerda

Last Friday was Erin and Maile's going away party. They are
both moving to the Bay Area. Now I have nother reason to
head north for the weekends! On the way the the party the
Volvo clutch went out, so it was on the tow truck again.
We made it to the party, just a bit late.

The Dude
No, not Jeff Dowd, Jeff Bridges or white russians, but the Dude.
The Dude lives in my
neighborhood in long beach and prefers kessler. if you live here you probably
see him daily...
unless your an emo kid and too sad to pick your head up and look around.
The Dude will be on any corner at any time checking out cars, talking
to them and to anyone who may spark up a conversation. im pretty sure
that every town has their own Dude. this is ours.
pretty much the same thing
6/14/07
in january i bought my current car a '62 volvo 122s. i wanted
the car for a while,
a neighbor down the street was selling it but didn't have the money
or a real good reason for a second car. my honda died in december so i
thought the volvo would be a great new car. $1,500 and a trip to pick -a-part
to salvage my car for $460 meant the volvo only really cost me $1,040.
i did some minor work to it, spent another $200 on misc things that were old
and
needed to be replaced. by february i was so happy with the car that i didn't
care if anything happened to it, i had my fun already. its just that fun to
drive!
in mid february i pushed the car to its limits daily and fucked up a piston.
i continued to drive it for a while then it started having problems. by chance
a
few weeks prior i met another volvo owner. he had a broken tail light cover
and i had one to give so i sorted him out and we started talking. he had
an extra engine and i remembered, called him and picked it up in the cuts
of compton. sketchy fuckin place. the following photos are of johnny,
kurtis and i pulling the engine. it took a week but i successfully swapped the
engine and have a better running car than ever. without johnny i wouldn't
have attempted this, thanks dude!

captain johnny watching over the work.

i spent the better part of a week here

the volvo gets a lot of attention. driving around with a beautiful girl next
to you gets more. people smile
and wave non-stop. too bad she's taking the pic and you have to see me instead.

im 30 years old as of yesterday. my car doesnt run, i dont have
a
steady job, tons of bills, i can't think of anything else that could be
bad but people stress out on everything all the time.
i deal with all these things as well but am happier than ever.
someday i hope you too can learn to forget about the stress
and really enjoy everyday, everyone and everything.
i don't like photos of myself but i put this one on the internet
so i must like it. this is me riding back from johnny's after working
on my car. i have been riding his bmx bike back and forth for the
past couple weeks. when my car was towed to his place i mapped
it for the driver and its 3.2 miles. then i did the math in my head and
with the two trips a day i have been taking down there its 12.8 miles.
12 miles on a bmx bike is hard and so much fun. ive been riding
this bike downtown through traffic, playing frogger and having a fucking
blast! everyone should take a bike ride!
you can see my tattoos in this pic. i never see them from other
peoples perspective and it looks crazy when i see a photo of myself.

johnny, tony, a secret fourth person and i took a walk down

Here it is, Kurtis brought some old trucks so we could roll it around town.
Wallride nose grabs are my favorite thing to do right now!

Just finished the ramp, waiting for friends to show up for a beer. Kurtis, Johnny
& Michael

Wendy and Mariza came down from Oakland for Amanda's second birthday party.
Wendy flew into Long Beach so we all met for a beer at the Pike.

This is how we started the weekend for the party.
Tiky torches and bamboo fencing aren't the best idea.

I patched it up before anyone arrived and the party went off!

This was on the grill. If I ate meat im sure this would be incredible!!!

"Hey dude, there's a lot of wood in here"

Kurtis doing the robot in a dumpster.
I was supposed to be doing magazine layouts but
didn't feel like it today. We've been jonesing to ride a mini
ramp or quarter pipe for so long. Instead of being bummed
any longer we went dumpster diving found some wood and
built a ramp. It's not a quarter or mini ramp...
straight up wallrider.
5/21/07

this shot is on my auto page as well. i just noticed the magazine
this article
ran in while putting stuff away and thought of this pic. when we were driving
and stopped
to take a pee break earlier i saw an incredible photo with the door open. look
at how
crazy that door is with the orange interior, fucking spaceship! i missed the
first shot
but grabed my camera later and got this one. when i turned the photos in i expressed
to everyone that the only photo i cared about running was this one because not
many
people get to see this view and i think its a decent photo. it never ran.

my car (check the pics below) has been in need of a engine rebuild
so i have been taking the bus everywhere.
its so much fun that i will continue even after the rebuild is done. there are
so many amazing things
that happen on the bus. each bus should really have its one zip code as they
are all their own planets. check out my
bus buddy on saturday from long beach to newport. we sat together. he couldn't
speak english and i speak very little spanish
but i let him know i like his boots, in turn he let me take a pic. im gonna
start listening to my learn spanish dvd's again.

my volvo. it needs a rebuild now. kurtis in the back dave in the front after checking out a flat rail.

my new (to me) volvo engine. its not in a box, paul was spray
painting a cocktail table and didn't want to get any paint on it.
johnny and i will put it in this week hopefully. i know shit about cars but
this is going to be a fucking BLAST! i think johnny knows what he's doing.

My view on the bus home from the office in Anaheim.
There was a loc'd out hispanic gangster on the bus today sitting
next to
a down-syndrom 45 or so year old white man. the down syndrom guy also
had some physical retardation's. the irony is incredible, the disabled
guy looks retarded but is probably way more intelligent than the loc'd out
dude with pretty good style. i was afraid to take their picture so you get this
dude instead.

I only have a few childhood friends left. Something about growing
up sends people in different directions. Jeff is one of those friends
that I still have. I would pretty much do anything for him! A few years
ago he moved from Santa Rosa to my place in Huntington Beach.
It was a bit rough as I was married with two children but we made
it work for a while. I eventually had to kick him out as it was hard on
our family but there were no hard feelings. He was trying to get a job and
shooting for his dream job, we just didn't have the time for that to happen.
Well a couple months later he almost got that job. It was the assistant to the
job he wanted. He stuck it out and now has it. He is the team manager
for emerica shoes. Jeff hooks me up with shoes and I appreciate it.
Here are a new pair of emerica's that I customized. Thanks Jeff!

A couple weekends ago I had a job in Nor-Cal, I live in Long
Beach.
My friend Maile is going to Berkeley and was up there to get all the
paper work sorted out for school so we met up for drinks in the city (SF).
Amanda (not pictured) was there with me and we were driving around
looking for photo locations on a Saturday in the city. What a joke. Needless
to
say I got sick of it and decided to go to the first bar I saw, Amanda was cool
with that as I was driving. We parked, rolled in to the Cinch (i think). Its
a gay
bar in the city and apparently one of the only one's left in its neighborhood.
I'm not gay but I love gay bars because they are always so friendly. I only
go
to gay bars that are out of my neighborhood though. I live in a gay neighborhood
and get hit on enough in my neighborhood by guys and its not cool to hang
regularly and tempt people. I don't want to hit on dikes and I'm sure gay guys
don't want to hit on straight guys so I don't think its fair for them if Im
hanging
out. Anyway we all had a blast at the Cinch and decided to move on. A couple
blocks down we walk into a bar that i will refer to as crazy eyes.
Not more than 5 minutes into being there I shot these two pics below,
I know there kinda small but the dj is cross eyed and the bar tender
looks crazy as well!

So if these are 99% real eggs what's the 1%. More importantly
what retard is out there buying 99% real eggs when the real
deal is sitting inches from the fake shit?

I was working for Alfa Romeo showing journalists
from around the world San Diego. Well I found
some great shooting and driving locations in
Borrego Springs and aroung the Salton Sea a
couple months prior so I took the Swiss journalists
and model to the Salton Sea, we stopped at a
liquor store/gas station to grab a few drinks and
ended up shooting there. While in the store I
saw this. The price tag say's $259.99 but they
were selling it for $17.99 what a deal! If you
want to pick this kit up drive to Salton City and
go to the only gas station there, they have some
cool bb guns too.

This was St Patricks day, such a bullshit holiday,
I really think most holidays are bullshit but this
one is over the top. Anyway this is Ron Chatman.
When I was a kid he was one of the best skateboarders
out there and on World Industries which was the
company at the time. I looked up to him as a hero.
I met him a few years ago, I was the "guy on the couch"
at my cousins after my divorce and he stopped by for drinks.
I have met a lot of my childhood hero's in skateboarding but
Ron was a little different. We have since become great friends.
Here he is about to get 86'd from the Pike, my favorite bar,
with my favorite bar tender in the background. Ron is 86'd
from most bars in Long Beach so it makes it hard to go
out with him but I love him no less!

So here's the deal, I love to shoot photos of people,
skateboarding, cars whatever but most people don't
like their picture taken. Kurtis is down with it so
anytime I want to shoot something I call him and he
comes through. I don't usually shoot skateboard
stuff anymore and dont get paid for it but I have all the
equipment so why not make memorable pictures that
you can look back at when your ninety? You will see
him a lot on here! This took less than 20 minutes
from arrival to departure.

Dave rolling through Long Beach. First time we
all just cruised around together in a bit

Kurtis skated like a champ then went and checked the
wiring at Omer and Tim's. He fixed some lights too.

What do you get when you give Amanda raspberries?
Amanda hands! Wouldn't it be great if we could
grow raspberries on our finger tips?

Erin with her b-day cake at Maile's

Maile's grandpa's hand at Erin's b-day party

After the family party we headed to the bar, who can't relate to this?

Kurtis called me and asked to shoot this photo of the ollie
(after I hounded him for a bit to shoot a photo).
On the way home I saw this ledge and within another 10 minutes we had this one.
Kurtis kills it!
The photos below here were from my original site

The cover of Disposable, Lance at Belmars, this is the first
real
digital photo I had ever shot with a SLR, nobody knew though!
I setup a iBook with the Quark doc all ready to go and download.
We shot 12 total shots to get the book cover, it was incredible.
After this shoot I sold all my film equiment and haven't
looked back. The best part was I was getting paid
at the time to be a digital photo consultant!

My daughter Danica. Someone sent me a close up filter by accident
when I bought a lens on ebay.
This was my first go with it, i just flipped her face to make her symetrical.
I lost that filter for over a
year but got it back when my ex-wife found it while cleaning our old apartment.
I use it everytime I shoot a car now.
